Our HistoryHeritage:Dubarry was established on the west coast of Ireland in 1937 as a footwear manufacturer. We very quickly established a reputatation as a high quality producer of moccasin constructed shoes and it was this expertise that initially launched us onto the international stage as a sub-contract manufacturer in the 1970s. In the Irish market Dubarry still has an extensive range of men's ladies and children's footwear that has been in existence since the formation of the company. Shoe making Expertise:Since 1930s we have developed a heritage and expertise, which combined the generations of skilled craftsmanship with the best of modern developments in footwear technology. This knowledge accumulated over the years has enabled us to take on any challenge in the footwear business. With moccasin manufacturing as a core speciality we were well positioned to target the deck shoe market. The World of Sailing:A passion for sailing combined with our proximity to the unforgiving elements of Ireland's Atlantic coast made the transition into the production of performance marine footwear, a logical progression for the company. The world of sailing was also a perfect fit with Dubarry's core competencies as a footwear manufacturer. Today we are proud to claim that we are the world's only dedicated provider of performance marine footwear producing top class products for the most demanding environments. The Outdoor Lifestyle World:The Dubarry Outdoor Footwear Collection evolved out of a demand from many of our watersports enthusiasts to have a more rugged product for their other outdoor pursuits and activities. This collection features a unique range of country/lifestyle boots suitable for a variety of different uses from equestrian, hunting, shooting, fishing, gardening to stylish and functional apres skiwear. Dubarry is now the boot of choice at the Burghley & Badminton Horse Trials, the CLA Game Fair, the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, the Chelsea Flower Show and many other prestigious international events. Dubarry has extended its range to include a premium lifestyle collection of leather luggage, leather and sporting goods and a selection of gift items. This range provides the perfect accompaniment to our boot collection with design features and leather combinations carried through from the footwear. These are the perfect gift item to the many thousands of proud Dubarry boot wears. Technical Innovation:With a solid starting point based on the best handmade moccasins in the world, we began a process of identifying a series of strategic relationships with the best raw material suppliers in their respective fields worldwide. However, it was a significant breakthrough that occurred as a result of an assignment to our internal engineering team in the early feasibility phase of the marine footwear project which literally laid the foundation for our success. The assignment tasked them to come up with the best non-slip rubber outsole for use on deck. An inspired sense of lateral thinking aimed at identifying other usage environments with a similar set of requirements ultimately led to the car tyre, where rubber is also often in direct contact with wet surfaces. This resulted in today's distinctive Dubarry outsole design. It consists of a series of interconnecting channels designed to allow water to be dispersed away from the point of impact in several different directions simultaneously, thereby preventing aquaplaning or slippage as it is more commonly know. The more the traditional razor cut sole cannot possibly offer the same level of grip as this patented design. Leather is another of the crucial components in Dubarry footwear. Key characteristics of our performance leathers include water resistance, low water absorption and Dry Fast-Dry Soft™ performance. Repeated wetting and drying out causes leather to harden and crack with its unique water repellent properties, our leathers will dry quickly and retain its shape and softness time after time. A unique range of footwear care products has also been developed by Dubarry to help you to maintain your boots and shoes. The introduction of GORE-TEX® lining in selected styles offers added technical benefits. This completely integrated waterproofing system is designed for maximum comfort and protection. The secret is the GORE-TEX® membrane with approximately 9 million pores per square inch through which water cannot possibly penetrate. But since water molecules are even smaller than the pores, body moisture in the form of perspiration can pass through the membrane to allow the foot to breathe. Quality Assurance:
